Super-soothing-tamanu
Tamanu is a plant that belongs to the family Calophyllaceae, and grows in the tropical region in Asia: Thailand, Vietnam, Myanmar, Malaysia, South India, Sri Lanka. Tamanu is a tree with black bark and shiny leaves. It blooms twice a year, with fragrant, white flowers, which later give yellow fruit with flavour similar apples. The fruits contain a nut which is located in the center. Nuts are dried for about two months, and in this period the grains change color and become brown and very sticky. After such a transformation, oil can be readily extracted from the grains with mechanical pressure. Tamanu oil has been used for centuries for various purposes: scratches, burns, insect bites... Today it is used in cosmetic industry and skin care due to significant benefits for the skin.

Tamanu oil is rich in vitamin E, contains 92% neutral lipids, glycolipids 6.4% and 1.6% phospholipids. It contains more than 35% of polyunsaturated omega-6 fatty acids (linoleic acid), which has the property to prevent water loss from the skin by providing protection and sustenance. It is ideal for rehydration and revitalisation of dry and damaged skin and has a calming effect for irritated skin. Tamanu oil is used for skin rejuvenation as well, it helps to bind moisture to the skin and prevents the appearance of wrinkles and stretch marks. The antioxidant activity of Tamanu oil helps protect skin cells from any damage.
